Kit Pricing 2026: $39 Creator, $79 Pro, and the Free Plan Catch
- Free up to 10,000 subscribers
- Creator from $39 a month
- 14-day trial, no card
Kit pricing, checked Oct 31: free to 10,000 subscribers, Creator $39/mo at 1,000. The catch I found: the free plan lost automations in 2026.
Kit pricing starts at $0. The Free plan covers up to 10,000 subscribers, Creator costs $39 a month for 1,000 subscribers ($390 billed yearly), and Pro costs $79 a month ($790 yearly). I read every number below on the Kit pricing page on October 31, 2026, from a US connection. This page is for creators choosing a Kit plan, or checking what Kit (formerly ConvertKit) will cost as their list grows.
Kit’s free plan no longer includes any automations or email sequences. It had one basic automation and one sequence until at least August 3, 2026, and two of the independent pricing guides on Google’s first page still list them.

We have no affiliate deal with Kit and earn nothing from the Kit links on this page. The popup on this site promotes MarketingSecrets.AI, which is an affiliate offer.
Creator and Pro start with a 14-day free trial and no card. Kit refunds paid plans within 30 days of signup.
My verdict on Kit pricing
Kit is fairly priced for a creator who needs automations and has under 10,000 subscribers. It gets expensive fast past that. Creator at 1,000 subscribers costs $390 a year on yearly billing. At 10,000 subscribers the same plan costs $1,390 a year, and at 25,000 it costs $1,990.
- Start on Free if you only send broadcasts and your list is under 10,000.
- Pay for Creator the day you need a welcome sequence or any automation. Free cannot run one.
- Pay for Pro only if you need more than 2 users, deliverability reporting or Subscriber Signals. Pro costs $400 more per year than Creator at 1,000 subscribers.
- Skip Kit if your list sits between 10,000 and 25,000 and you only send a weekly newsletter. You will pay at least $1,690 a year for features you do not use.
Kit plans and prices at a glance
Kit sells three plans in 2026: Free, Creator and Pro. All three charge by subscriber count, not by emails sent. Kit’s pricing FAQ states there are no sending limits on any plan.
| Plan | Price at 1,000 subscribers | Yearly billing | Subscriber cap | Users | Automations and sequences |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | 10,000 | 1 | None |
| Creator | $39/month | $390/year ($33/month) | Unlimited | 2 | Unlimited |
| Pro | $79/month | $790/year ($66/month) | Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited |
Published prices on kit.com/pricing, October 31, 2026. Yearly billing costs 10 times the monthly price, which Kit labels “save 17%”. Creator and Pro both have a 14-day free trial with no credit card.
Kit price by subscriber count
Kit’s price rises in fixed steps as your list grows. The table below covers every tier up to 65,000 subscribers. I took the monthly prices from the tier list that powers the sliders on Kit’s pricing page and spot-checked the 1,000-subscriber tier against the visible page. Yearly totals use Kit’s own rule of 10 times the monthly price.
| Subscribers (up to) | Creator monthly | Creator yearly | Pro monthly | Pro yearly | Pro year one with 25% offer |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1,000 | $39 | $390 | $79 | $790 | $593 |
| 3,000 | $59 | $590 | $99 | $990 | $743 |
| 5,000 | $89 | $890 | $139 | $1,390 | $1,043 |
| 8,000 | $119 | $1,190 | $169 | $1,690 | $1,268 |
| 10,000 | $139 | $1,390 | $189 | $1,890 | $1,418 |
| 15,000 | $169 | $1,690 | $249 | $2,490 | $1,868 |
| 20,000 | $189 | $1,890 | $269 | $2,690 | $2,018 |
| 25,000 | $199 | $1,990 | $279 | $2,790 | $2,093 |
| 35,000 | $259 | $2,590 | $363 | $3,630 | $2,723 |
| 45,000 | $319 | $3,190 | $447 | $4,470 | $3,353 |
| 55,000 | $379 | $3,790 | $519 | $5,190 | $3,893 |
| 65,000 | $439 | $4,390 | $591 | $5,910 | $4,433 |
Prices from kit.com/pricing, October 31, 2026. The last column is my calculation of Kit’s 25% first-year Pro offer, which ends November 7, 2026. Kit’s tier list continues to 500,000 subscribers, where Creator costs $2,499 a month, and offers a custom plan above that.
The cost per subscriber falls as the list grows. Creator yearly works out to $390 per 1,000 subscribers at 1,000, $139 per 1,000 at 10,000, and about $68 per 1,000 at 65,000. The first step up hurts most in percentage terms: Creator for 3,000 subscribers costs $59 a month, 51% more than at 1,000.
Kit counts only unique, active subscribers. A person on three of your tags counts once, and unsubscribes do not count.
Is Kit’s free plan really free?
Kit’s Free plan costs $0 for up to 10,000 subscribers with no time limit. Kit’s Free plan help article, updated September 23, 2026, lists what it includes: unlimited forms, landing pages and broadcasts, tagging and segmentation, digital product sales, A/B tests on broadcast subject lines, and API access.
The same help article lists what needs a paid plan: visual automations and the automation template library, email sequences, rules, RSS campaigns, AI connectors and paid apps. That list is the catch. A Free account cannot send an automatic welcome email series.
The change is recent. The Wayback Machine capture of Kit’s pricing page from August 3, 2026 shows the free plan under its old name, “Newsletter”, described as free with “limited automations” and 1 basic visual automation (capture). By the September 3, 2026 capture the plan was renamed “Free” and the automation and sequence rows read ”-” (capture). I found no Kit announcement of the change, and I could not verify whether older free accounts kept their one automation.
Three more limits apply on Free:
- One user. Creator allows 2 and Pro allows unlimited users, per the plan comparison on kit.com/pricing.
- Creator Network enrollment. Kit’s help article says new accounts are enrolled in Recommendations on signup. You can turn it off in your Creator Network settings.
- A hard stop at 10,000. The help article says you need a paid plan to keep sending once you pass 10,000 subscribers. At 10,001 the cheapest option is Creator at $169 a month, or $1,690 a year.
Free plan support is email only. Kit says Free accounts get a reply within 24 hours, in the order requests arrive.
Creator vs Pro: what the extra $40 a month buys
Kit Pro costs $40 a month more than Creator at 1,000 subscribers ($79 against $39). The gap grows with the list: $50 at 10,000 subscribers and $152 at 65,000. Pro adds tools for scaling a list and a team.
| Feature | Creator | Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Users | 2 | Unlimited |
| Subject line A/B test | 2 subject lines | 5 subject lines |
| Subscriber Signals and engagement scoring | No | Yes |
| Deliverability reporting and insights dashboard | No | Yes |
| Newsletter referral system | No | Yes |
| Facebook custom audiences | No | Yes |
| Edit links in sent broadcasts | No | Yes |
| Custom tracking domain | No | Yes |
| Growth Concierge team | No | Yes |
| Support | 24/7 email and chat | 24/7 priority email and chat |
From the plan comparison on kit.com/pricing, October 31, 2026.
For a solo creator, Creator covers the essentials: unlimited visual automations and sequences, removal of Kit branding, RSS campaigns, 100+ app integrations, abandoned checkout and free migration from another platform. I would only pay for Pro once a second or third person needs a login, or once your sponsor deals depend on deliverability numbers you can show.
Kit’s price history, 2025 to 2026
Kit raised Creator prices in late summer 2025 and has held them since. Kit also renamed two of its three plans in 2026. I traced each change through Wayback Machine captures of kit.com/pricing.
| Capture date | Free plan | Creator | Pro |
|---|---|---|---|
| January 9, 2025 | ”Newsletter”, free to 10,000 | $108/year for up to 300 subscribers | ”Creator Pro”, $290/year for up to 300 |
| August 2, 2025 | ”Newsletter”, 1 basic automation and 1 sequence | $29/month billed monthly, up to 1,000 | Not readable in capture |
| September 8, 2025 | ”Newsletter”, unchanged | $390/year, up to 1,000 | ”Creator Pro”, $790/year, up to 1,000 |
| February 7, 2026 | ”Newsletter”, unchanged | $390/year | Renamed “Pro”, $790/year |
| September 3, 2026 | Renamed “Free”, automations and sequences removed | $390/year | $790/year |
| October 31, 2026 (live) | “Free”, up to 10,000 | $39/month or $390/year | $79/month or $790/year |
Sources: Wayback Machine captures of kit.com/pricing on the dates shown, and the live page on October 31, 2026.
The 2025 rise was steep at the entry tier. In the August 2, 2025 capture, Creator for 1,000 subscribers cost $29 a month, and the page offered “2 months free” on yearly billing. That works out to $290 a year. Five weeks later the September 8, 2025 capture listed $390 a year, an increase of $100, or 34%. The January 2025 capture also showed a 300-subscriber Creator tier at $108 a year. Today’s page starts paid plans at 1,000 subscribers.
Some third-party guides still use the old names. If a page quotes “Creator Pro” or a free “Newsletter” plan with one automation, its numbers predate 2026. Kit’s own help center is not fully consistent either: the Free plan article still says paid features “live on the Creator and Creator Pro plans”, while the pricing page calls the top plan “Pro”.
Costs on top of the plan price
Kit’s plan price is not the whole bill. Four costs apply on top of it, per the plan comparison and FAQ on kit.com/pricing:
- Transaction fees. Kit charges 3.5% + 30 cents per sale of digital products and paid newsletter subscriptions, on every plan, Free included. A $50 sale costs $2.05 in fees.
- Paid Recommendations fee. Kit keeps 23.5% of Paid Recommendations earnings. The feature needs Creator or Pro.
- Automatic tier upgrades. When your list passes your tier’s limit, Kit moves you to the next tier and bills the higher price. It does not ask first.
- Manual downgrades. If you clean your list and drop below your tier, Kit’s FAQ says its team downgrades plans by hand. You have to email help@kit.com, or you keep paying for the higher tier.
The automatic upgrade shows up in recent billing complaints. Kit holds a 3.9 TrustScore from 165 reviews on Trustpilot. On October 28, 2026, one 1-star reviewer wrote that Kit would “increase your charges by over $100 for uploading new contacts”. Before you import an old list, check which tier it will land in. Remove cold contacts first.
Monthly vs yearly billing on Kit
Yearly billing on Kit costs 10 months’ price for 12 months. That saves $78 a year on Creator and $158 a year on Pro at 1,000 subscribers. The refund window is the risk. Kit refunds monthly and annual plans only within the first 30 days after signup.
| First 12 months, 1,000 subscribers | Creator | Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Pay monthly | $468 | $948 |
| Pay yearly | $390 | $790 |
| Pro 25% first-year offer (ends Nov 7, 2026) | Not offered | $593 |
My calculation from kit.com/pricing, October 31, 2026.
The current Pro offer takes 25% off the first year of Pro annual for lists up to 65,000 subscribers and 10% off for larger lists. Kit’s Pro page says it ends November 7, 2026, and the plan renews at the standard rate after year one. Creator gets no discount from it. For the full deal history and what Kit ran last Black Friday, see the Kit Black Friday 2026 guide.
Pay monthly for the first one or two months if you are new to Kit. Switch to yearly once you know which tier your list will sit in.

Which Kit plan should you choose?
Choose by what you need to automate and how many people need a login. List size sets the price within each plan.
Choose Free if you send a weekly newsletter, your list is under 10,000, and you can live without a welcome sequence.
Choose Creator if you sell a product or course and need sequences, tag-based automations or integrations.
Choose Pro if a team shares the account, or sponsors ask for deliverability and engagement data.
Do not choose Kit if your list is large and you only broadcast. At 25,000 subscribers Creator costs $1,990 a year, and you would pay mostly for automations you do not run. Compare a flat-rate tool before you migrate. My Flodesk vs Kit comparison covers one option. Systeme.io bundles email with funnels on one plan; see my Systeme.io review.

What happens after you sign up for Kit
Kit’s Creator and Pro trials last 14 days and need no card to start. These are the next steps, from Kit’s pricing FAQ and its Free plan help article:
- Trial ends. Add a card to keep Creator or Pro. If you do not, you can continue on Free.
- Your list grows. Kit moves you up a tier automatically and charges the new price. Check your subscriber count each month.
- You want a refund. Kit refunds monthly and annual plans within 30 days of the signup date. Kit says the refund takes 3 to 5 days to reach your card.
- You downgrade to Free. Use the billing settings. Paid features stay until the end of the billing period. On a trial they end at once. Your automations and sequences stay in the account but stop running until you upgrade again.
- Your list shrinks. Email help@kit.com to move to a lower tier. Kit does not downgrade you on its own.
Paid plans include free migration from another email platform. Kit’s FAQ says its team moves subscriber lists and automations for you. How I check prices for posts like this one is on the review methodology page.

What people actually ask us
Does Kit still have a free plan?
Asked on Google People Also Ask, "kit pricing"
Yes, and it still covers up to 10,000 subscribers. The contents changed. Since late summer 2026 the free plan has no automations and no sequences, so it works for sending newsletters and not much else. If you need a welcome sequence, budget for Creator from day one.
Is Kit pricing in USD?
Asked on Google People Also Ask, "kit pricing"
We read every price on this page in US dollars, from a US connection, on October 31, 2026. We did not check whether Kit shows other currencies to visitors in other countries. Expect your card to be charged in dollars and plan for your bank's conversion fee.
How much does it cost to send 10,000 emails?
Asked on Google People Also Ask, "convertkit pricing"
Kit does not charge per email. It charges by subscriber count and has no sending limit on any plan. So 10 emails to 1,000 people costs $0 on Free, or $39 a month on Creator if you need automations.
Why is ConvertKit so expensive?
Asked on Mailmeteor Kit pricing FAQ, January 2026
Kit prices by list size, and the jump between tiers is steep at the low end. Creator for 3,000 subscribers costs $59 a month, about 51% more than at 1,000. The free plan is the cheap path, but only if you can live without automations.
